First camping trip of the season!
We’ve arrived at Clarence Fahnestock state park!
We had such a great time!!! We put Zeke on his 50foot lead so he could wade in the water of the murky lake which he loved. We also were able to drop the lead for an hour today and play fetch, wade in a stream, and walk around the larger camp trails without needing to grab the leash. I love being able to do this, even if it is only in certain areas. Zeke’s prey drive is just too strong to be off leash all of the time. Sure enough while on a high embankment of the Appalachian trail, we saw a cat meowing down below and Zeke was beside himself lunging for it, I’m so happy he was on leash at the point I’m pretty sure he would’ve jumped off the cliff otherwise /=
I am glad he is getting bolder going in the water and so responsive to our calls when in larger, valley areas. It was a beautiful, peaceful two days away from the city with only one other camping neighbor at the whole site. We enjoyed hiking, sitting by the fire, driving into town, & eating at an outdoor cafe that is dog-friendly! If in the town of Cold Springs, check out Silver Spoons cafe- they have a great breakfast and friendly service. Our waitress LOVED Zeke, petting him and bringing him a giant bowl of water. Can’t wait for the next camping adventure!
Looks amazing! Zeke is one lucky dog 😉

I hadn’t realized how much Zeke looks like my Agatha. She is more bottle blonde than Zeke, but has the same dark sheperd back.
He looks sooooo happy in the first photo. Love it! Happy belated furry mom’s day to you.
