Zeke’s 6th birthday

•June 3, 2016 • 2 Comments

June 1 was Zeke’s designated birthday day. He turned 6! We spent 2 nights camping in the Catskills at a beautiful, dog friendly state campground, North/South Lake. We hiked, we ran, we played fetch in the lake, we explored, we narrowly avoided getting quilled by a porcupine, we ate, we slept, we rolled in the grass. And of course on the way home we looked up an awesome dog park to stop at. Zeke partied hard!

While it was not a dog friendly race, Zeke deserved to wear the medal because he helped me train and he anxiously waited (slept on the couch) while I ran in cold, rain, & wind this morning. Got an almost 8 minute PR! 2:14:09. So, Zeke, what should we train for next???

With this guy!

Today we did 8 miles of mostly trail. Stopped for a few minutes at the Dog park. Enjoyed seeing a mounted police officer on the trails galloping his horse!
A great run, feeling good about this training cycle. Now to anxiously await the coming snowstorm/ possible blizzard!

A Wet Run

•December 23, 2015 • 1 Comment

Zeke’s face is clearly saying “why haven’t you let me inside yet”. 4 miles done in a soaking, windy rain. It took 3 towels to dry him off. My apartment still smells like damp dog, but I love it, it’s a comforting smell to me.

Made a new friend, Ava, while running in the park. She is a fiveish year old pit mix, the color of cinnamon. She & her owner seemed to enjoy being out in the rain as much as we did. The man had no umbrella and was soaked through, rain dripping from both of our baseball caps. He gave a deep hearty laugh when I told him my dog’s name was Zeke. Said it reminded him of his dad who used to say something like, How’s it going to Zeke? to anyone he met (;

It’s Day 29 of my running streak& I’m going strong, feeling good despite the beginnings of a cold.

Check back soon for a review of a new puzzle feeder I bought for Zeke. It’s a great price, made in the USA, & Zeke LOVES it. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays everyone!!!
